Section 1 : Deposit Payment

Customers can only bid on vehicles at Japanese used car auctions after paying the required deposit.
In case of purchasing cars from dealers or individuals in Japan, We (JDM Select Link) will purchase cars after the customer has paid the required deposit.

The required deposit shall be as follows:

  • JPY 100,000 for a vehicle with a purchase price of less than JPY 1,000,000.-
  • For vehicles priced at 1 million yen or more, a deposit of 10% of the purchase price is required.

in this case bank transfer fee JP\7,000.- will be deducted.

JDM Select Link may refuse to place a bid or proceed with a purchase request until the required deposit has been received and confirmed.

Section 2 : Bidding

All bids placed through JDM Select link are made on a proxy basis. This means that JDM Select Link will conduct the bidding on behalf of the customer based on their bidding instructions. Actual bidding takes place through a system provided by the auction company.

JDM SelectLink reserves the right not to bid, including, but not limited to, the following:

  • If there is an outstanding balance on your previous order.
  • The main issues affecting the export potential of vehicles.
  • Bidding priority decisions made by JDM Select Link ( in case of higher bid has already placed by other buyer)
  • If there is a reasonable determination that the vehicle may not meet the import requirements for the customer’s country due to local laws, regulations, or vehicle specifications,

Customers are responsible for clearly notifying JDM Select Link of their maximum bid amount and any special bidding instructions.

  • The deadline for submitting bids is 9:00 AM Japan time on the day of the auction.
  • We will do our best to accommodate bid requests submitted after the deadline, but we cannot guarantee that this will be possible.
  • If you wish to cancel a bid you have already submitted, you must do so at least one hour before the start of the entire auction. Due to system limitations, cancellations may not be processed after this deadline.
  • If a bid cancellation request is not submitted by the deadline, the customer will be responsible for all auction penalties, cancellation fees, relisting fees, and other lost item costs incurred. In most cases, this cost is between 70,000 and 80,000 yen, but this may be higher depending on the auction house.
Section 3 : Restrictions on Fund Transfer

In accordance with relevant Japanese laws and regulations, we will not use deposits or vehicle payments received from customers for purposes other than their intended use, nor will we transfer them to accounts other than the one from which they were sent. For example, we cannot transfer customer funds to other car dealers, providers, or third parties within Japan on behalf of the customer.

Section 4 : Cancelation

Generally, successful bids cannot be canceled for any reason. In unavoidable circumstances, the winning bidder will sell the vehicle at auction. In this case, all costs associated with relisting will be borne by the original prospective buyer. These costs will be deducted from the deposit. If there is a difference between the winning bid and the selling price, this will also be deducted from the deposit. If the deposit amount is insufficient to cover these costs and losses, the remaining amount will be billed.
Furthermore, negotiations regarding price reductions after a successful bid will not be accepted.

Section 5 : Storage Cost

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, all storage fees incurred more than one month after the purchase date will be the customer’s responsibility.

Storage fees may arise due to various reasons, including shipping delays, container shortages, port congestion, delays in document preparation, delays in export arrangements, and delays in customer payment.

If the customer delays payment after purchase, the customer will be responsible for all export delays and associated storage fees resulting from that payment delay.

Section 6: Vehicles Purchased Through Negotiation

Even vehicles that did not reach the seller’s minimum bid price at auction may be available for purchase through post-auction negotiations.

Any fees incurred when purchasing a vehicle through post-auction negotiations will be added to your total purchase cost and will be listed on the relevant invoice, if applicable.

These negotiation fees are generally around 10,000 yen, but may vary depending on the auction house and seller.

Section 7 : Inland Transportation Costs

Inland transportation costs from the auction site to the export yard or port will be added to the customer’s total cost and will be included in the relevant invoice, if applicable

Domestic transportation costs will be communicated to you by your sales representative or agent.

You acknowledge that inland transportation costs may vary depending on the auction location, fuel price fluctuations, transportation regulations, driver availability, weather, and other operational conditions.

Section 8 : Present-Damage and “As Is” Vehicles

Any unexpected costs arising from the purchase, handling, transportation, preparation, repair preparation, or export processing of vehicles sold n a present-damage, as-is, as-is, or similar terms will be added to the customer’s total cost

Such vehicles carry high risk.

Some of these vehicles may be drivable, while others may not. They may have mechanical failures, oil leaks, structural damage, transportation issues, or other problems that only become apparent after purchase.

All costs incurred in transporting, storing, inspecting, preparing, or otherwise handling such vehicles for export shall be borne by the customer.

Section 9 : Translation

Customers can request a translation of the auction sheet before bidding.
We, JDM Select link place great importance on ensuring transparency throughout the entire transaction. Therefore, all information clearly stated on the auction sheet will be translated and presented without any concealment. We will be held responsible for any problems arising from our oversight or mistranslation of important information, even if the issues are clearly stated in the auction sheet.
We shall not be responsible for issues that are not stated on the auction sheet.

If requested by the customer, JDM Select Link can request additional condition checks from the auction house or auction staff. (Site inspection service: JPY2,000.-)

If the auction sheet indicates that service records or logbooks are included, they will be provided in the vehicle. However, even in such cases, there is no guarantee that the service records will contain useful information.

Section 10 : Commission and Additional Charges

The following commission charges apply to each vehicle purchased from Auction. The commission shall be JPY 80,000 plus 3% of the auction purchase price per vehicle, plus inland transport to the export port for RoRo shipment.

Additional costs apply to container shipments.

Container shipments, whether sold on FOB or CIF terms, may require additional charges including, but not limited to, vanning charges, THC (terminal handling charges), port-related charges, inspection costs, or special handling fees.

Additional costs may also arise depending on the requirements of the importing country, the type of vehicle, seasonal treatment requirements, or the need for special handling or equipment.

Such charges will be notified to the customer when reasonably possible.

Section 11 : Year of Manufacture and First Registration

Unless otherwise specified, the model year displayed on vehicles sold at Japanese auctions is generally based on the initial registration date in Japan, not the actual manufacturing date.

Customers are responsible for verifying whether their country’s import regulations are based on the manufacturing year, initial registration date, model year, or other classification criteria.

Section 12 : Claims for Vehicles with Odometer Readings Over 100,000 km

If you purchase a vehicle with a mileage exceeding 100,000 kilometers, we will not accept any claims regarding that vehicle.

Vehicles with a mileage exceeding 100,000 kilometers generally require maintenance, repairs, parts replacement, and other work due to wear and tear and age-related deterioration.

The risk of mechanical problems, wear and tear, age-related deterioration, or maintenance issues with the vehicle is borne by the buyer, and We assumes no such risk.

Section 13 : Rust or Corrosion in Vehicles More Than 10 Years Old

We cannot accept claims regarding rust or corrosion on vehicles that are more than 10 years old.

Due to Japan’s climate, coastal environment, winter road conditions, and the use of de-icing agents in snowy areas, it is common for vehicles more than 10 years old to show some degree of rust or corrosion in various parts, including the body, underbody, exhaust system, suspension, and other components.

The risk of such rust and corrosion is borne by the buyer, and We will not bear any responsibility.

Section 14 : Modified Vehicle and Aftermarket parts

We cannot accept mechanical claim regarding vehicles equipped with aftermarket or modified parts.
This includes, but is not limited to, vehicles modified with aftermarket suspension, intake systems, turbochargers, ECUs, exhaust systems, body parts, drivetrain components, and other non-original parts.
When such vehicles are modified beyond the manufacturer’s original specifications, it inherently carries additional risks in terms of structure, safety, mechanical, electrical, and reliability.

Section 15 : Regarding repaired vehicles, vehicles of grade 3 or lower, and vehicles whose grade has not been determined:

Claims will not be accepted for vehicles that have been repaired, vehicles with a rating of 3 or lower, or vehicles that have not been rated.
JDM Select link does not guarantee that any repair work performed on the vehicle will meet the buyer’s desired standards, regional standards, import standards, or any other expected quality level.
A rating of 3 or lower may indicate past repairs, panel replacements, poor exterior condition, significant wear, or other issues according to the auction house’s grading criteria.
Vehicles that are not graded are often sold “as is,” and the information on the auction sheet may not be complete, which poses a high risk for the buyer.

The buyer accepts these risks and agrees that no claims will be accepted regarding the vehicle.

Section 16 : General clauses

If any section of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
These terms and conditions shall be interpreted in good faith, taking into account the commercial nature of used car auctions, export logistics, auction rating systems, and the inherent risks associated with purchasing used cars.
Even if JDM Select Link waives any rights under these Terms, it shall not be deemed a permanent waiver of such or any other rights.
The version in effect at the time of the relevant bid, purchase request, or payment will apply.
